The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Meeting Against Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Houston Astros winning the championship in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays reached their maiden Fall Classic following 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the American League Championship Series.
Trailing three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run blast in the seventh frame, leading the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 win in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the anticipated World Series.
"I'm just so happy for everyone here, Toronto, the nation," commented Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "This is such an incredible feeling."
The veteran has now connected for 23 total playoff homers, placing him third all-time behind Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"There's probably not anyone else on planet Earth that I'd choose in that spot other than Springer with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "there's no question that it's painful" in the wake of his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts this season.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we had to come out on the wrong side of this game," he remarked.
Toronto's team secured the World Series on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
