President Trump Invites Loved Ones of Attacked Guard Soldiers to the White House
President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.
He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Background on the Heartbreaking Event
Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president informed reporters. “And likewise with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Support
Attendees gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.
Both they had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to aid public safety in the capital.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the principal of her previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to help others.”
Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Judicial Measures and Policy Adjustments
Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy led the government to pause asylum processing and halt issuing entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.
Status of Wolfe
The airman, a native of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.
He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey stated on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Memory of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with distinction, per the military.
“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had fortitude,” he told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
