Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities have stated that a ex- physician has been charged with carrying out assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.

The Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

The charges follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

List of Offences

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges include:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities have asked individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
