Fans Demand Arrest of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of Ariana Grande are urging that a man who leaped a barricade and touched the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or removed from Singapore.
A viral clip shows the individual from Australia shoving aside photographers and charging at Grande while the cast walked down a promenade surrounded by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being taken in", though court documents showed that he was due to attend court on the next day. It is uncertain if he was charged.
History of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed contains recordings of him disrupting other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney performance in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last December.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is evidently a legal violation," stated an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Voice Worry Over the Star's Past Trauma
Numerous supporters criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed dealing with PTSD after a devastating incident at the end of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote a further comment on Instagram.
A number of fans also faulted security officers at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while some requested social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's content.
Response and Event Details
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande looked shocked when she was grabbed by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Numerous of supporters had assembled in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore venue, including a number who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it started.
The film, to be released on 21 November, is the second of a two-part interpretation of the popular stage show Wicked, which centers on the surprising friendship between two contrasting sorceresses.
The show itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning film of last year in the UK, and scored ten Academy Award nods, securing a pair for best costume and set decoration.
