Esteemed actress Helen Mirren Set to Receive Golden Globe Career Honor.
The distinguished English actor Mirren, previously winner of an Oscar, several BAFTA honors, three Golden Globes, multiple Emmy accolades, and a Tony, is set to earn an additional prestigious accolade to her shelf: the Cecil B DeMille Golden Globe lifetime achievement award.
Honors Presentation
The actress, eighty, formerly honored as a dame back in 2003 and made a Bafta fellow in 2014, will receive this honor in a ceremony January 8, three days before the primary Globes ceremony are held, within an event billed by the Golden Globes as the Golden Eve event.
Also part of the event will be the presentation of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett award for small-screen contributions, the honoree for which remains unannounced. The prior year’s honorees included Viola Davis along with Ted Danson.
“Mirren stands as a powerhouse performer, and her professional journey is truly remarkable,” said Helen Hoehne, Helen Hoehne. “Her brilliant portrayals and devotion to her art continue to inspire countless performers and viewers as well. It’s a tremendous privilege to present her with the Cecil B DeMille award.”
Professional Journey
The star gained prominence back in the 70s through significant parts on stage in London’s theater district and through the Royal Shakespeare Company and in films such as O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.
During the nineties, her starring role in the crime series Prime Suspect increased her popularity even more. Other key films feature Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.
She earned an Academy Award for her performance as Queen Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a role she revisited in 2013 within The Audience, the theatrical work from Peter Morgan about the meetings involving the monarch and the PM Thatcher, a role for which Mirren won a Tony in 2015.

- Later-career movies feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda & Barbie, where she served as narrator.
- Her role in the streaming adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has received positive reviews and awards buzz is growing about her portrayal as an ailing family head in Kate Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June.
- Next year, audiences will see Mirren portraying Patricia Highsmith in the drama by Anton Corbijn, Switzerland.
Golden Globe nods are set to be revealed on the eighth of December, with the film by Paul Thomas Anderson One Battle After Another, Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners likely to receive multiple nominations.
